CONTERO Moscato d`Asti di Strevi DOCG 2009
Vineyards
The Val Contero vineyards are situated in a perfect amphitheatre in Strevi, the heart of one of the best zones for Moscato in Piemonte. The vineyards are superbly tended and produce fruit of stunning quality. The vines are guyot trained with 4500 vines planted per hectare. They are planted on steep tufaceous-marl hills with sandstone layers. The grapes are hand harvested in wooden boxes in mid September. Average yield is 6500 hl/ha.

Vintage information
The Veneto winter was characterised by cold, wet weather which gave way to a cool, rainy spring. Conditions improved in late May with a hot, dry June with good diurnal temperature differences which allowed the aromatic qualities in the grapes to develop. Harvest was approximately a week later than 2009 and the grapes were picked in good condition with good acidity levels, better pH than 2009 and lovely aromatic qualities.

Vinification
The grapes were gently pressed and fermented at low temperatures to maximise the fragrance. During fermentation the must was filtered several times. The wine was drawn from the vat with an alcohol content of 5.5%, and was stabilised before being bottled under pressure, to maintain a slight sparkle.

Tasting Notes
Lightly frothing with a lovely perfume of freshly crushed grapes and sherbet. On the palate it is lightly sparkling and off-dry, with a perfect balance of soft, sweet, grapey fruit with a hint of Turkish delight and lively, fresh acidity.
