d'Arenberg The Dead Arm Shiraz 2000 (75cl) d'Arenberg The Dead Arm Shiraz 2000 (75cl)

A superb vintage for d'Arenberg. LIMITED STOCKS

Robert Parker 94 points:
"The unfined/unfiltered 2000 The Dead Arm Shiraz is one of South Australia’s finest wines of the vintage. A perfume of grilled steak intermixed with blackberries, new saddle leather, earth, pepper, and melted licorice rises from this awesome red. With great power, richness, and no hard edges, it is still young and primary, but should hit its peak in 3-7 years, and last for two decades or more.

Chester Osborn, the remarkable person behind this enormous array of both impeccably high quality and value-priced wines, deserves considerable accolades for what he is able to achieve at all price ranges. If you love Australian wines, d’Arenberg is a winery to seek out as these offerings all possess abundant soul as well as character. In short, the accolades that proprietor/winemaker Chester Osborn receives not only from The Wine Advocate, but virtually everybody in the wine world, are all well deserved. " Wine Advocate #148 (Aug 2003)

d'Arenberg The Dead Arm Shiraz 2002 (75cl) d'Arenberg The Dead Arm Shiraz 2002 (75cl)

A superb vintage for d'Arenberg.

Robert Parker 93 points:
"The 2002 The Dead Arm Shiraz was a challenge to effectively analyze. After the magnificent 2001, it comes across as lighter-styled, more elegant, but also closed and restrained. Several hours of aeration were beneficial, but this cuvee seems to be playing it close to the vest. However, there is power underneath the tannic structure. A deep ruby/purple color is followed by a backward, full-throttle Shiraz lacking the exuberance, unctuosity, and stunning concentration of the 2001 and 1998. It has noble breeding, but appears to be totally shut down at present. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2020." Wine Advocate #155 (Oct 2004)

Penfolds Grange 1998 (75cl) Penfolds Grange 1998 (75cl)
Rated 99 by R Parker, this wine has so many accolades that there is little more we can add. Arguably the best wine ever produced in Australia and possibly the globe.
"The 1998 Grange will be legendary. A blend of 97% Shiraz and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon, it tips the scales at a whopping 14.5% alcohol. The inky/purple color is followed by an extraordinarily intense nose of creme de cassis intermixed with blueberry and floral notes. As the wine sits in the glass, aromas of meat, plums, and cola also emerge. It is a seamless effort with sweet tannin, well-integrated acidity, sensational extract, and layer upon layer of blackberry and cassis fruit that stain the palate and fill the mouth. Its harmony, freshness, and remarkable length (the finish lasts nearly a minute) suggest an all-time classic. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2030." Wine Advocate #148 (Aug 2003)

Yering Station Reserve Pinot Noir 2002 (75cl) Yering Station Reserve Pinot Noir 2002 (75cl)
Tasting note: Concentrated and complex nose with lovely ripe, intense fruit of black cherry and plums. Fine French oak adds a toasty, smoky aroma. The palate is full, plush and concentrated with great poise and velvety tannins. It has a long, persistent finish.
Perfect to accompany all types of game especially pigeon, duck or quail. Shows very well with a wild mushroom and boar risotto or mature, veined cheeses.
This wine will continue to develop for a further ten years or more after release if well cellared.
