 | Peter Lehmann Stonewell Shiraz 1996 (75cl)
An impressive wine, described as being in the same league as Penfold's Grange. Winning numerous gold medals, this serious wine represents excellent value for money.
R Parker 92 points:
"The 1996 Stonewell is a big, broodingly backward wine offering aromas and flavours of melted asphalt, black raspberries, smoke, graphite, pepper and blackberries. Full-bodied and moderately tannic with good underlying acidity as well as structure, it is still an infant, but should mature over the next two decades and will be uncommonly long lived."

"It's a no-brainer with respect to the dense purple-coloured 1998 Stonewell Shiraz. The wine is inky/purple-coloured with oodles of blackberry and cassis fruit intermixed with hints of honeysuckle, wood, earth and pepper. The full-throttle, majestic offering is super-concentrated and rich with a wealth of glycerin, fruit extract. There is plenty of tannin lurking under the surface, but it is nearly obscured by the wine's exceptional depth. Anticipated maturity: now - 2018."
