Vinification Note: The single vineyard is located at Siepi, 260m a.s.l. with a south, southwesterly exposure. The vines are trained by the free-standing spur method and are planted at 3600 - 6000 vines/ha. The Merlot is hand picked from September 7 to September 12 and the Sangiovese from September 27 to October 10. Maceration lasts between 18 (Sangiovese) and 21 days (Merlot) during the fermentation, at 32°C. The seperate parcels are then matured for 16 months in small French oak barrels of 228L capacity before blending and bottling. A period of bottle ageing is undertaken before the wine is released.
