The beautifully neat vineyards of MontGras, in Palmilla, Colchagua characterises the Gras brothers, Hernán and Eduardo, along with partner Cristián Hartwig and reflects their desire to make wines to the highest possible standards.
With a brilliant winemaking track record in Canada, Hernán Gras was inspired, along with his entrepreneurial brother Eduardo and Hartwig (who comes from a winemaking family and has strong bonds with Colchagua along with a pragmatic businesses view) to join together to give to life to Viña MontGras in 1993. Thus was born the first of the MontGras estates.
MontGras set out from the start to be make the best premium wine in Chile investing in state-of-the-art technology for all of its processes. With this commitment, it is little wonder that their professional winemaking, consistant quality and innovation have been recognised with numerous international prizes.
That said, as with all successful wineries, people are the key. As Hernán Gras says, "our philosophy has to do with producing quality Chilean wines at exceptional value, which reflect the specific terroir from where the grapes come. Although we count on the equipment and the technology, it is definitively our people that make the difference. To create a wine is a true art in which all the senses are used."
