| MOUNT HORROCKS Mt Horrocks Cordon Cut Riesling 2009 Vineyards The grapes for this wine were hand-picked from the Mount Horrocks single vineyard in Auburn, Clare Valley. `Cordon Cut` refers to a unique, risky process that involves cutting the canes when the grapes are ripe, allowing the remaining fruit to concentrate and raisin naturally on the vine. This results in intense flavour and richness.
Vinification From a single, estate vineyard, Cordon Cut is produced without botrytis infection, the cutting of the canes and extended hang time on the vine doing the job of raisining the fruit. The grapes are hand picked and then fermented slowly until the desired sweetness level is reached.
Tasting Notes Bright pale yellow gold with a distinctive lime-edged youthfulness. Wildflower, orange essence, vanilla and musk notes leap from the glass. Heres a sweet white that doesnt cloy its vibrant and tangy with tangerine zip, sweet lime and delicious juicy fruit flavours all wrapped up in a framework of zesty acidity keeping it crisp and oh so more-ish. This vintage appears a little lighter and fresher, more focussed even which auger well for both its drinkability and cellaring.
