Royal Saint Emilion, Union de Producteurs 2005
Grape Varieties
70% Merlot
20% Cabernet Franc
10% Cabernet Sauvignon

Food Matching Note:
Round, textured and warm, would be the perfect accompaniment to meat dishes incorporating some spicy, herby richness: moussaka, chicken chasseur, sizzling beef in oyster sauce.

Tasting Note:
Deep ruby red with an enticing nose showing brambles, black cherry and forest fruits. Round and mouthfilling with balanced acidity and a long finish.

Vinification Note:
The Union de Producteurs Cooperative is the largest producer in St Emilion and has the muscle to source the best grapes for this, its benchmark cuvée. In fact, the Royal cuvée has been made from fine quality St Emilion grapes since 1933 and is a classic in the art of blending. After destemming and crushing, the grapes are fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel. Maturation takes place for 12 months in used barriques before bottling. Royal is then stored at the Cooperative's 8 million bottle capacity cellars and are released when they are ready to drink.
