VILLA TONINO `Baglio Curatolo` Syrah 2007

Since the 1999 vintage, Alberto Antonini has acted as a consultant
to the Curatolos and brought with him the modern winemaking
skills that allow the native Sicilian varieties he is working with to
express their maximum potential. The resulting Villa Tonino wines
are uniformly excellent, combining the richness that Sicily can
provide with the freshness only someone with Alberto.s winemaking
experience can retain.

The grapes for this wine came from a single vineyard near Agrigento in
south central Sicily at an altitude of 650 metres above sea level . The
climate here is Mediterranean with mild winters and hot summers. Soils
are predominantly clay.

The grapes were hand-picked in September.
The grapes were pressed and the must fermented in stainless steel
tanks at controlled temperatures. The wine was then aged in new
French oak barrels for 9 months. The wine was lightly filtered before
bottling.

This wine is deeply coloured, with aromas of fresh red berries and
touches of spice and soft hints of vanilla. Round, fleshy and supple
on the palate it has a long, elegant finish.
