Making A Purchase It is an offence to buy or attempt to buy alcohol if you are under the age of 18. It is also an offence for any person over the age of 18 to purchase alcohol on behalf of somebody who is under the age of 18. Please note that Winestore.co.uk will not sell alcohol to any person who we believe to be under the age of 18.

We accept Visa, Mastercard and Switch. The full amount will be charged at the time that you make your purchase online, though if you prefer, you may provide payment card details via the phone, fax or post. We do not recommend that you send payment card details by email as this is not as secure as our online payment system.
Shipping And Handling Shipping and handling charge to the UK mainland for a case of 12 bottles is £4.95 (inc VAT) unless you require the wine on a Saturday, in which case please contact us for pricing. Please note that due to the high cost of shipping and packaging, orders for less than £15.00 in total are subject to an additional Product Surcharge of £2.00 plus VAT.

Please contact us at deliveries@winestore.co.uk or telephone 0845 058 0021 if you require a delivery outside the UK mainland. Orders received by 11:00 am are normally dispatched that day for delivery the next working day (between 8:00 am and 5:30 pm) unless out of stock or stated otherwise (e.g. Special Orders or Privately Cellared wines). Please note that where FREE DELIVERY is offered, this is restricted to the UK Mainland.

Our couriers will attempt to deliver the goods up to 3 times. If they are unable to deliver because no-one is at the delivery address, they will leave a card with their contact details so that the delivery can be re-arranged or the wine collected at the local depot. Should a delivery be refused by a customer, or the customer is unavailable for receipt of the goods and the goods are returned to us, an additional charge will be made for redelivery. You can request that a wine be left in a safe place, such as a garage or at a neighbour's house, though this is ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK. In the event that you request that your wine is left somewhere, and it is not possible for the courier to obtain a signature confirming receipt, we will be uanble to provide a refund if the wine goes missing. Please note that WE CAN DELIVER TO AN ALTERNATIVE ADDRESS (such as your work address) if this is more convenient.
Back Orders If a wine is out of stock, we will contact you.
Tax Charges All prices include VAT @ 17.5% and UK duty.

Please note, should require your wine to be shipped overseas, you are responsible for the payment of any local taxes or duties. Winestore.co.uk ltd. will not be liable if your wine is seized or confiscated nor for any invoices raised for local taxes or duties. If you are unclear as to what taxes or duties may be payable, please contact the relevant authority of the country concerned.
Credit Card Security We know of no documented cases of credit card fraud using our shopping system over the Internet. All credit card numbers are encrypted in the software when the order is placed using 128 bit encryption. They are only decrypted after they reach our computer. They are not held in clear text on any web site.
Guarantee With the exception of wines that are more than 40 years old, all of our wines are guaranteed. If there is a clear fault with the wine, we will provide a replacement or a full refund in which case, you must not discard the wine as we may need to collect it for analysis/return to the winery.

Please note that all wines require care when storing. They should kept in a cool, dark place, racked or laid on their sides. Under no circumstances should they be subjected to extreme temperature variations, nor should they be kept in a warm place.

With older wines, the cork may be softer and care should be taken to insert the corkscrew fully - ideally a corkscrew with a fine worm (thread) should be used. If the cork does break, it is not an indication that the wine itself will be spoiled or 'corked'. In the event that the cork does break, we suggest pushing the remaining part of the cork into the bottle (removing any loose fragments first).

Some wines, particularly older reds, may also have sediment. This is perfectly normal and harmless. To minimise the risk of sediment being poured, older wines should be left to settle for 24- 48 hours before opening and either decanted or poured carefully, leaving the sediment at the bottom of the bottle.

Please note, we reserve the right to refuse a refund or replacement where:
- The wine has been in the recipient's possession for more than 14 days,
- The wine has been discarded,
- The wine has obviously not been stored correctly,
- The cork breaks and there is no fault with the wine itself,
- There is sediment present and there is no fault with the wine itself,
- The wine is not to the recipient's liking and there is no fault with the wine,
- The wine is shipped to address other than the UK mainland.
