In superb condition with excellent level and near perfect label. Being a larger format, it presents really well, should drink very well and would make a great gift or serious addition to a collection.
The name and brand of Rebello Valente was owned by the Antonio Caetano Rodrigues Wine Company which was dissolved in l941. Its origins stem from the marriage of Alberto Rebello Valente Allen to Felismina Rodrigues Ayres de Gouveia in 1889. Ownership since changed to the Robertson Brothers who were bought out by Sandeman in 1953 who were themselves taken over by Canadian drinks giant, Seagram in 1979.
Older vintages of Rebello Valente are always worth sniffing out as it ages so phenomenally well. In 2013, the 1977 vintage was described as 'Mature tawny in colour, medium bodied with a complex, pleasant finish'.
The higher amount of residual sugar in Vintage Port makes it a safer bet than other wines (along with Sauternes and other Dessert Wines). We have sold a few of these fabulous magnums and had great feedback. As such, this comes highly recommended.
