Crôzes Hermitage

The largest region in the Northern Rhone with about 1,238 hectacres of vines. It stretches from about 10 kilometres north of Tain L’Hermitage to about 12 kilometres south and is mainly granite soils. With a hot Mediterranean climate, the area produces mainly red wines from the Syrah grape which can be rich and intense. There is also a trend to make lighter red wines for earlier drinking. The white grapes of Marsanne, Rousanne and Viognier may be used to a maximum of 15% in the Reds to also create a lighter style, or to produce white wines of great intensity and depth.
