Italy’s three north eastern wine areas often go under the name of Venezie or Tre Venezie . They cover the larger Veneto area that produces the classic white Soave, as well as in reds, Valpolicella and Bardolino. From nearer Venice, the Glera produces the outstandingly successful Prosecco. Heading north, the other two regions are Fruili-Venezia-Giulia and then Trentino Alto Adige. Here the grapes cover Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer, Sauvignon, Tocai Fruilano, but best of all some excellent Pinot Grigio wines.
