Barsac is a small region, south of Bordeaux, which has its own AOC within the well-known Sauternes district. Here the Semillon grape attracts the famous botrytis (noble rot) that shrivels the grapes and intensifies the rich beeswax, apricot, honey flavours that make this wine so famous, unique and delicious. Barsacs are just a little lighter than Sauternes as they age for up to 3 years in cask, turning from an intense gold to a rich amber. Their richness and balance is superb, making them some of the best dessert wines around.
