The Fronsac region lies to the east of Bordeaux on the north banks of the Dordogne near Libourne . With over 3,000 acres of vines, it is made up of the Fronsac and Canon Fronsac AOC’s , the latter theoretically being superior. The main grape is Merlot which thrives here bringing much of the strength and flavour to these red wines. Cabernet Franc and Malbec add depth and intensity with a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon. The wines are delicious, ripe and great value - factors that make them increasingly popular.
