German wines come from the most northerly vineyards in Europe where it is a constant battle between sugar and acidity. Their wines, mainly white, from the Reisling, Muller Thurgau, and Silvaner grapes, grow on some of the hardest soils and steepest slopes. Yet they can produce a superb range from the dry trocken, to the intensely sweet and delicious trockenbeerenauslese. From areas as diverse as the Mosel, Rheingau, Rheinhessen, Ahr and many more. A country little understood that deserves so much more.
