A quote that sets the scene for an amazing success story that began in 2007, when two school friends met again and decided to form a Wine Company. In 2008 they launched their first Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and have built on its success ever since.

The two founders, Tim Lightbourne and Rob Cameron, could not have had more different careers. Tim has a marketing background, working with an impressive portfolio of brands including Danone, L’Oreal, HP, Lea and Perrins, and Heinz. His involvement in wine began working in a Burgundy vineyard as a grape picker. His skills, however, have launched Invivo onto the market with an impressive PR campaign that has led to many awards.

Awards are ultimately won on the quality of your wines, and this comes from the skills of Rob who, after studying viticulture and oenology at Lincoln University , moved back to New Zealand. Here he worked in the Auckland and Marlborough areas developing his skill as a wine maker. In 2003 he joined Cellarworld Europe, looking after their wine projects in Moldova, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Hungary, Slovenia, France and Spain, an experience that added massively to his tremendous skills.

In 2008, Invivo was born with its distinctive label that carries an eight pointed star representing the face of a rose compass, as they select wines from across the country to deliver the true essence of New Zealand. Rob selects the grapes from two key areas, Marlborough and Otago.

Marlborough is a unique region. Glacial and alluvial soils with minerals that deliver an intensity to the wines. Long, warm sunny days with cooler maritime nights result in a longer ripening period, and, as such delivers impressive intensity, delicacy, crisp acidity and a superb range of flavours. Their wines, from the Dashwood and Awatere Valley areas include the much awarded Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris. These are classic Marlborough wines with delicious flavours such as passionfruit, papaya, zingy limes, pineapples and gooseberry in the Sauvignon Blanc and candied pears, quince, and floral aromatics in the Pinot Gris- true quality.

For the Invivo Pinot Noir and Riesling, Rob has gone to the vineyards of Gibbston, Lowburn, Northburn, Bendigo and Bannockburn in Otago, the classic area for Pinot Noir. Here with its mountainous backgrounds, different rocky soils, and a Continental climate the grapes fight hard to exist, yet thrive, producing impressive wines. The Pinot Noir has cherry, ripe plums, toasty espresso, and herbal thyme flavours. In the Riesling comes lemon sherbet, grapefruits and limes that combine with other tropical flavours.

There is no doubting the skills of this team as awards testify - Pinot Noir rated at the IWSC in London in the top 5 in the World, Sauvignon Blanc awarded Gold, 5 stars and top 10 in Decanter World wine awards, and Riesling New Zealand’s No1 by Cuisine to name a few.
