New Zealand’s leading wine region, Marlborough is widely recognised as one of the top wine regions in the world. Vines were first planted in 1873 by Scottish farmer and wine grower David Herd, and Marlborough now accounts for over 75% of all of New Zealand’s wine production, with 85% of this being Sauvignon Blanc. It was in Marlborough that Kevin Judd created New Zealand’s most famous wine, Cloudy Bay, and now makes Greywacke. Other wineries include Tinpot Hut, Invivo, and Kim Crawford, though the list is endless.
