Romania
Romania has a well-established wine industry that has lacked investment to grow and evolve. However, since 2007, when they joined the EU, interest in their enormous potential has grown tremendously and investment follows. White wines are led by the Feteasca grapes and Welshriesling as well as Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris and Aligote. In reds the Feteasca Regala is there with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Pinot Noir. The Cabernet is developing particularly well. An area to watch and not just for good value.
