Saint Émilion

Saint Émilion is a beautiful old, historical town that overlooks the Dordogne from a limestone clay plateau. It is probably one of the older vineyard areas of the Bordeaux district but its fame is well established with red wines of a slightly different blend to the Medoc.  Here the Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes lead, contributing to softer, less tannic, velvety wines, full of fruit, perhaps younger in style, that sit proudly amongst the world’s top wines. There are 82 classified Growths with Château Cheval Blanc and Château Ausone at the top.
