AboutGlenlivet is located on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park, south of Ablerlour, a region of outstanding natural beauty and one which is one of the wildest places in Scotland. With freezing winters and windy, turbulent summers, this is the coldest place in the UK and one which is ideally suited to the production of these special malt whiskys. The water is pure and comes from a natural spring, 'Josie's Well' which is fed by winter snow and rain and filtered through mineral rich layers of limestone and granite.
Glenlivet 12 Year Old is matured in American and European oak barrels which gives vanilla notes and a fruity, well-balanced palate with a nutty, marzipan finish. The 15 year old is creamier and fruity with hints of almonds and spices. It is aged in French oak from the Limousin which intensifies the whisky giving it a richer and creamier finish. The 18 year is the star, perfectly balanced with rich fruit and toffee aromas and bursts of orange on the palate and a long spicy sweet finish. It too is matured in selection of different oak casks.
Very well priced, this is a great gift for a whisky lover. A favourite at Christmas and for Father's Day.
