Terms and Conditions
Hours of Business
Other than wine delivery, all of our operations are managed by us, in-house between 10:00am and 8:00pm Monday - Saturday. Our aim is simple - to make purchasing simple to leave you to enjoy the pleasure of drinking your wine.
Making a Purchase
It is an offence to buy or attempt to buy alcohol if you are under the age of 18. It is also an offence for any person over the age of 18 to purchase alcohol on behalf of somebody who is under the age of 18. Please note that Winestore.co.uk will not sell alcohol to any person who we believe to be under the age of 18.
We accept most major Credit Cards. The full amount will be charged at the time that you make your purchase online, though if you prefer, you may provide payment card details via the phone or post. We do not recommend that you send payment card details by email as this is not as secure as our online payment system.
All prices are inclusive of UK duty & VAT.
Although we endeavour to ensure that all pricing information on this website is accurate, occasionally an error may occur and a wine may be mis-priced. If we discover a pricing error we will, at our discretion, contact you to determine whether you wish to cancel your order or continue at the correct price; or notify you that we have cancelled your order. We will not be obliged to supply wines at the incorrect price.
We reserve the right to adjust prices, offers, wines and specifications of wines at our discretion at any time before we accept your order. Where an end date is specified on any offer on the website, it is intended as a guide only. We reserve the right to change prices at any time.
If a wine is out of stock, we will contact you.
Credit Card Security
We know of no documented cases of credit card fraud using our shopping system over the Internet. All credit card numbers are encrypted in the software when the order is placed using 128 bit encryption. They are only decrypted after they reach our computer. They are not held in clear text on any web site.
With the exception of wines that are more than 20 years old, all of our wines are guaranteed. With the exception of wines older than 20 years, if there is a clear fault with the wine, we will provide a replacement or a full refund in which case, you must not discard the wine as we may need to collect it for analysis/return to the winery.
All wines require care when storing. They should kept in a cool, dark place, racked or laid on their sides. Under no circumstances should they be subjected to extreme temperature variations, nor should they be kept in a warm place.
With older wines, the cork may be softer and care should be taken to insert the corkscrew fully - ideally a corkscrew with a fine worm (thread) should be used. If the cork does break, it is not an indication that the wine itself will be spoiled or 'corked'. In the event that the cork does break, we suggest pushing the remaining part of the cork into the bottle (removing any loose fragments first).
Some wines, particularly older reds, may also have sediment. This is perfectly normal and harmless. To minimise the risk of sediment being poured, older wines should be left to settle for 24- 48 hours before opening and either decanted or poured carefully, leaving the sediment at the bottom of the bottle.
Product Photographs and Images on our Site
Where a photo of a wine is shown, this is for illustrative purposes only and we cannot guarantee that you will be sent that actual bottle (unless this is specified in the description).
Shipping to mainland UK is £6.95 including VAT, unless you require the wine on a Saturday, in which case please contact us for pricing.
Orders received by 11:00 am are normally dispatched that day for delivery within 2 – 4 working days (between 8:00 am and 5:30 pm), unless out of stock or stated otherwise (e.g. Special Orders or Privately Cellared wines). Please note that where FREE DELIVERY is offered, this is restricted to the UK Mainland.
If our couriers are unable to deliver because no-one is at the delivery address, they will leave a card with their contact details so that the delivery can be re-arranged or the wine collected at the local depot. Should a delivery be refused by a customer, or the customer is unavailable for receipt of the goods and the goods are returned to us, an additional charge will be made for redelivery. You can request that a wine be left in a safe place, such as a garage or at a neighbour's house, though this is ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK. In the event that you request that your wine is left somewhere, and it is not possible for the courier to obtain a signature confirming receipt, we will be unable to provide a refund if the wine goes missing. Please note that WE CAN DELIVER TO AN ALTERNATIVE ADDRESS (such as your work address) if this is more convenient.
DELIVERIES OF MULTIPLE BOTTLES In accordance with the Alcohol (Scotland) Act 2010. Where a wine is purchased and dispatched from our store in Scotland, we will charge the same for a single bottle as for buying multiple bottles.
Please contact us at or telephone 0845 058 0021 if you require a delivery outside the UK mainland.
Please note, should you require your wine to be shipped overseas, you are responsible for the payment of any local taxes or duties. Winestore.co.uk will not be liable if your wine is seized or confiscated nor for any invoices raised for local taxes or duties. If you are unclear as to what taxes or duties may be payable, please contact the relevant authority of the country concerned.
Under The Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 and The Electronic Commerce Regulations (EC Directive) Regulations 2002, you are entitled to a 7 day Cooling Off Period and may cancel your contract with us within 7 days of receipt of your wine or other goods ordered. Should you wish to cancel your contract, you must contact us within this period. Please note that the wine or goods purchased must be returned at your own expense, unopened in its original packaging and that you are liable for any damage caused between receipt of the wine and its return.
We reserve the right to refuse a refund or replacement where:
- The wine has been in the recipient's possession for more than 14 days,
- The wine has been discarded,
- The wine has obviously not been stored correctly,
- The cork breaks and there is no fault with the wine itself,
- There is sediment present and there is no fault with the wine itself,
- The wine is not to the recipient's liking and there is no fault with the wine,
- The wine is shipped to address other than the UK mainland.
