Tasting Notes
Baron de Badassiere Picpoul de Pinet is a perfect example of Picpoul. It is light in style and leans towards dry to medium-dry with apples (Cox or Golden Delicious) both on the nose and palate. Keep two bottles in the fridge; well-chilled, it is fiendishly moreish and the bottle will probably be finished before you know it!
About
Imagine a hot day in the South of France, sitting on a terrace overlooking fields of sunflowers and vineyards. Lunch is served and you're wanting a change from some of the wonderful, if slightly predictable Rose wines. When it is well made, Picpoul de Pinet is one of the freshest, most uncomplicated white varieties available. It is quite is simply a delicious glass of white wine that suits almost any occasion and invariably, appeals to all. It's no stranger to this area either being native to (and widely available in) the Languedoc.
Ideal with...
On its own or with canapes and lighter food (salads, picnic, etc). This is a great wine for parties and events too as it is so easy drinking, whilst having loads of character.
