Baron_Philippe_de_Rothschild_Mapu_Cabernet_Sauvignon

Baron Philippe de Rothschild Mapu Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 75cl

SKU: 43150
This is a classic Cabernet Sauvignon. Unpretentious, yet bearing the hallmarks of a great wine producer with more than a touch of class and complexity. We tasted this wine blind against a number of other Chilean Cabernets and it outshone the others.

  • Tasting Notes

Full bodied and very Cabernet Sauvignon with more than a hint of bramble leaves on a medium-bodied, black fruit (cassis) driven palate. Well-balanced tannins make this a great food wine. As with the other excellent wines in this range, it is really good value for money.

    About

Known for its premium Bordeaux wines, Baron Philippe de Rothschild also produce a range from the Pays d'Oc and of course from their venture in Chile. Whilst their success was built on their top wines, Chateau Mouton Rothschild, Chateau d'Armailhac and Chateau Clerc Milon, they have led the way for others without undermining their core brand.

Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are the backbone of great clarets and if the iconic Baron Philippe de Rothschild can't get them right, there's little chance for others. Mapu sits alongside their premium Chilean reds, Almaviva and Escudo Rojo. However Mapu is no poor relation to these two great wines. On the contrary, for the price, the Mapu range is every bit as good. Try a mixed case of the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and Syrah Rose - you won't be disappointed!

    Ideal with...

Pasta, pizza and a good steak all go down a treat with this delicious, unpretentious Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon as does a robust cheese board.
