For wine lovers, this Chilean Sauvignon Blanc is a 'must try'. Complex and full, it over-delivers on all fronts and is superb with food. Definitely one of our favourite wines.

This Chilean Sauvignon Blanc is a great marriage of New World meets France, with many of the characteristics of Sancerre and Pouilly Fume, but without the price tag. Crisp and dry with good minerality and plenty of citrus fruits, though not in your face as so many entry level and, dare we say, New Zealand Sauvignons are. There's a touch of grapefruit on the palate, which is softened with rounded stone fruit flavours, finishing very clean, slightly rich and long. At this price, we believe it's the best value Chilean Sauvignon Blanc on the market.

Baron Philippe de Rothschild is an iconic brand, known for its premium French wines including 1ere Cru Chateau Mouton Rothschild, Chateau Clerc Milon and Chateau d'Armailhac. They also sport a range from the Pays d'Oc and of course, Mouton Cadet. Throughout their history, they have fought to bring us great wines, being persecuted by the Nazis in world war two and pushing to have their first wine Mouton Rothchild, elevated to a first growth, alongside Latour Lafite Rothschild and Chateau Margaux. Always believing his wine to be a first growth, Baron Philippe achieved this for Chateau Mouton Rothschild in 1973, the only wine awarded this since the original classification in 1855 and placing it amongst the elite of fine wines.

Their range of Chilean wines is second to none and a steal at current prices. Known for their premium Chilean reds, Almaviva and Escudo Rojo (meaning Red Shield or Rothschild), for the price, the Mapu range is every bit as good. Try a mixed case of the Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah Rose, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon - you won't be disappointed!

    Ideal with...

Because of its depth and complexity, this Sauvignon Blanc works well with food and especially chicken and fish with full flavoured sauces such as tarragon, dill, parsley and even aniseed flavours. It's a good aperitif too, complimenting most hors d'oeurves.
