    About

Volnay in Volnay itself, which is in the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy. The Appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) Volnay was created in 1937 and is only used for red wine with pinot noir as the main grape variety. The style of Volnay wine is typically light and aromatic, and elegant rather than powerful, with considerably less tannin than the Pommard wines from the neighboring village.

For lovers of Pinot Noir, this is the region for the world's best and the wines from here are unparalleled. Domaine Delagrange Bernard et Fils enjoys 23 hectares of some of the best vines which are used to produce world famous red wines including Volnay, Pommard, Beaune, Meursault and Auxey Duresses as well as whites including Saint Romain, Meursault, Auxey Duresses and Savigny Les Beaune.

    Our Views

1969 was a superb vintage for Burgundy, though very small due to a cold spring. The wines benefit from having real backbone with outstanding fruit and balanced acidity. This levels and labels of this Volnay are in near perfect condition and as such, this wine comes HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
