About
A good vintage, 1978 was set to become a disastrous vintage until the end of the season when the clouds broke and a long spell of hot sun and cloudless skies changed the fortunes of the growers. And with a handful of the classified growths attaining that magical 90 plus points score from Robert Parker, prices have been fairly stable.
Chateau Le Beyan is not as widely known as other wines from the Haut Medoc, though has been becoming increasingly popular more recently. It is a relatively small estate with only 6.8 hectares and an annual production of approximately 45,000 bottles. As with nearly all wines from this area, Le Beyan is matured in oak barrels for around 12 months. It is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Merlot. Our Views
We have had good feedback for this 1978 vintage wine. The fruit and tannins are, as you expect, a lot lighter than a younger counterpart, though are still holding together well. Good value in our view.
