This is one of the best presented wines in our portfolio with both the label and the level being outstanding for its age. It has been stored in a professional wine fridge/cabinet and shows all the signs of being as good as this wine from this vintage could get.
A relative newcomer to the elite First Growth club, Chateau Mouton Rothschild was only promoted to this level in 1973. The handful of other wines (Lafite, Margaux and Latour) were classified First Growths in 1855 when the classification system was introduced. Given that the classifications were originally based on price, it is testament to Mouton that it is the only First Growth to achieve its position based primarily on the quality of the wine.
Mouton is the Chateau without an actual chateau. The name Mouton means small hill on which Mouton sits and despite the lack of a castle, a visit to Mouton is a must. It is one of the most reliable wines too in terms of ageing potential and we have over the years, tried various vintages, some in poor condition (lower levels) and been delighted with the wines which don't seem to deteriorate in the same way as other wines.
Wow! This wine and its condition speak for themselves. Unique, very well presented and the ultimate for any lover of top Bordeaux.
