Good for a wine of this age with levels into/at the base of the neck. Bin soiled labels, though all details are perfectly legible.

Founded in 1725 and run by a priest and a magistrate, Chateau Gruaud Larose is relatively young compared to neighbouring wineries. Split into two different wineries in 1867, it was reunited by the Cordier family in 1935. A top left-bank wine, it is made up of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc with Malbec and Petit Verdot featuring in certain vintages.

Today, Gruaud Larose is owned by the Merlaut family who produce around 150,000 bottles of the first wine each year. Hand-picked grapes with a stringent selection process and 18 months ageing in oak barrels are just a few elements of the wine-making process that make this such a highly regarded wine.

    Our Views

Whilst 1967 was not the most exciting of vintages for Bordeaux, well-cellared wines such as this will often show well with drier, lighter fruit flavours and softer tannins.
