About
Col d’Orcia literally means the hill overlooking the Orcia River. The Orcia River marks the South West border of the Brunello di Montalcino area and the name of the winery is intrinsically linked to the actual location where the vineyards are planted. It is Col d’Orcia's mission to produce the best possible wines that the exceptional combination of soil and climate in this part of Montalcino can achieve.
Montalcino itself is located about 80k south of Florence and has been synonamous with the production of wine since the 14th century. In 1980, Brunello di Montalcino was among the first four wines awarded the DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita) designation.
