About
With great wines and some top Appellations, Denis Philibert established a good pedigree in Burgundy and the quality of his wines was undisputed until 2001. Then, in the face of financial challenges, French police arrested a number of winemakers and negociants for, amongst other things, fraudulently labelling lesser wines as top appellations. Philibert was heavily implicated and the wines went out of production. Perhaps the saddest aspect of this saga is the fact that, since then, wines from Burgundy have become more and more sought after with top names achieving stratospheric prices.
Our Views
A top Burgundy in excellent condition. There's a touch of scandal associated with the Philibert name, adding intrigue to this wine...
