  • Tasting Notes

Pastel pink in colour with a gorgeous light nose of redcurrants and cherries. Cherries and watermelons are evident on the sophisticated medium-bodied palate, which, rather like an expensive camera with more megapixels, displays an array of delicate flavours with a great balance of red fruit and citrus acidity. The finish is crisp and clean, like a good Sancerre, and is fairly persistent.

    About

As an area, the Rhône valley is well-suited to rosé wines. The hot Mediterranean climate provides ideal growing conditions and, of course, perfect conditions to enjoy and glass or two! With Provence delivering some of the world's greatest rosé wines, the Rhône is just a stone's throw away (and to the south, where this wine is made, was in fact previously part of Provence). With the benefit of Châteauneuf du Pâpe's unique 'terroir' where the grapes for this wine are grown, Solitude is ideally placed to produce exceptional wines, of which this is one.

Domaine de la Solitude Côtes du Rhône Rosé is made with a blend of Grenache and Syrah. It is vinified in stainless steel tanks which ensures a true and clean reflection of the grapes' characteristics. There is no 'appellation' for a Rosé Châteauneuf du Pâpe, though if there were, Solitude would doubtless lead the field.

    Ideal with...

For fans of rosés, this wine is a delight. It delivers so much and is great on its own and with food. Smoked duck salad, poached salmon, tarte flambé and most hors d'oeuvres work well.
