Tasting Notes
The nose reflects an appley, stone fruit style that comes through in the flavours with the light aging in French oak that adds a fabulous buttery background. It delivers a fresh, vibrant mouth full of fruit with the crisp balancing acidity adding a high level of finesse - a beautiful lasting glass of Chardonnay. Think Corton Charlemagne and you won't be far off the mark.
About
The initial winery was founded in 1991 and initial vineyards purchased in 1998 near Sebastopol. In 2003 another winery was opened here, their intention to produce wines that are true to their origins. In the process the fruit is very carefully selected, the aging is in French Oak, and the wines bottled unfined and unfiltered to maintain all the flavours and quality.
Ideal with...
This Chardonnay from the Russian area has a richness and a lasting finish making it delicious with light white meats, light pasta, seafood and salmon. On its own a revelation - truly superb!
