Great with levels at very top shoulder and very clean labels.
Villa Poggio Salvi owes its name to its fortunate location on the South side of Montalcino, overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. Clean air and the perfumes coming from the dense oak forests and the Mediterranean has attracted people here since ancient times. Poggio Salvi in fact stands for “Healthy Poggio”, and has always been considered a highly respectable and pure area where people used to find shelter from diseases and viruses. Montalcino Historical Archives tell us that this place was famous for its wines, served to the most prestigious characters, since the 16th Century.
Amazed by the beauty of the landscape, Eng. Pierluigi Tagliabue decided to purchase the company in 1979 and began the restructuring of the estate. Today, Villa Poggio Salvi has 21 hectares of vineyards in Montalcino, all planted with clones of Sangiovese Grosso. The optimum altitude, between 300 and 500 meters, the soil rich of clay and the breeze coming from the Tyrrhenian Sea, maintain the soil and a perfect climate for the vineyards.
A great wine from a forward-thinking winery who are making top wines today. In great condition, we have no hesitation recommending this wine.
