Santa Luz Reserve Carmenere 2011 75cl

SKU: 41211
Exceptional value for this top Carmenere which has really good structure and a level of complexity normally associated with far more expensive wines. With full, rich fruit and oak, it is a big wine for hearty food and unwinding by the fire.

  • Tasting Notes

Intense ruby red colour with aromas of figs, prunes and cracked black pepper. The palate is full-bodied, with hints of chocolate, dates and morello cherries underpinned by round, velvety tannins. The finish is satisfyingly long.

Carmenere was originally cultivated in France in Bordeaux and indeed, the name comes from the French word carmen, which means crimson. A member of the Cabernet family of grape varieties, it is rarely seen in France now as it was wiped out in 1867 by the Phylloxera plague which destroyed nearly all of France's vineyards. It has however been adopted with enormous success in Chile.

Santa Luz Reserve Carmenere drinks like a far more expensive wine. Careful selection of grapes and up-to-date winemaking techniques ensure this is a wine with real character and elegance.

    Ideal with...

Rich soups, pulses, hearty casseroles, red meats and blue cheese. Or an open fire.
