Thorn Clarke Terra Barossa Shiraz/Cabernet Sauv./Petit Verdot 2011 75cl

SKU: 41089
This much awarded wine is one of the best examples of how the Barossa Valley is competing with fine wines from the Rhone and other parts of Europe. Remarkably well-balanced, it is impressive and a very versatile wine both with and without food.

A stunning wine that combines three classic varieties, blended perfectly to make a wonderful full-bodied wine. Black fruits and subtle oak on the nose and palate are complemented by fine tannins that give great length and a finish that lingers on and on.

For six generations Thorn Clarke has been a family owned and managed winery in Australia’s Barossa Valley. Awarded five red stars by Australian wine critic, James Halliday, their wines compete with the top wines of Penfolds and Peter Lehmann.

This wine is a blend of 70% Shiraz, 21% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Petit Verdot. Because of the cooler weather in the 2011 vintage, the grapes ripened slowly resulting in elegant wines and the wine won a Gold Medal in the Sommelier Wine Awards together with a trophy and two Bronze Medals from the International Wine and Spirit Challenge and Shanghai International Wine Challenge.

    Ideal with...

This wine is equally at home with pasta in a rich tomato sauce as with a rare steak. We also found a perfect match with goat’s cheese with home-made soda bread. Great on its own too by the fire on a cold winter’s evening...
