A dark violet colour is well complimented by rich aromas of dark fruits, plum and blackberry, with notes of spice and a hint of vanilla. Medium bodied, but full of jammy fruit flavours - black current, even a hint of dark chocolate, with warm tannins and a fine finish. Far better than you would expect at this price.
For years the Chileans have propagated the myth that they alone are capable of producing quality, modern single vineyard wines at very affordable prices but the wines from Umbrele, utilise 'new world' technologies to create contemporary Romanian wines that are fresh and fruity and extremely approachable.
Fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged for 45 days in American oak casks. As with this winery's other wines, this relatively young winery continues to show enormous promise and is already producing world-class wines at very affordable prices.
Good on it's own and with pork, light meat and pasta dishes.
